It’s very windy. What should you do if you’re behind a motorcyclist who’s overtaking a high-sided vehicle?
Keep well back – Windy weather has a greater impact on motorcycles than on other vehicles. High-sided vehicles cause air turbulence in windy weather. You should remain a safe distance since the biker may be blown off track.
Windy circumstances have a substantial impact for motorcycle riders; it is possible for them to be blown into your path, so:
- If you’re passing a motorcycle, give yourself plenty of room.
- Maintain a safe following distance behind a motorbike overtaking a high-sided vehicle, as they may be blown off course.
- You should exercise extra caution where there are warning signals of a sidewind.
